Panasonic USA is the Orlando City Stadium Official Technology Solutions Provider and Partner
Orlando City Soccer Stadium launched in the theme park capital of the world for the 2017 Major League Soccer (MLS) season featuring Panasonic USA immersive entertainment solutions installed for the next generation fan experience and superior live events in an amphitheater type setting unrivaled in Florida, across the United States and Canada. The LED Video Boards in the football specific venue help create a one-of-a-kind fan and sponsor friendly, connected atmosphere in the 100% privately funded facility. The dazzling 60’-by-33’ LED video board, informative ribbon screens and displays located around the pitch, all provide unique digital fan engagement assets and a popular local attraction. The design goal was to revitalize the downtown area in the Parramore neighborhood as well as attract the 2019 MLS All-Star game. The stadium is located two blocks from the Amway Center nearby popping restaurants and bars.
Because of seating capacity design changes, as a trusted vendor, Panasonic was able to re-design the LEDS boards to optimize sight lines and budget considerations while still meeting full LEED certification meeting eco and sustainability requirements.
Unique to the stadium is what’s labeled around the league as “The Wall” providing 3,811 main North Stand supporters known as the Iron Lion Firm and The Ruckus, the first safe-standing section in a major North America sports venue. Designed by Populous with a steep gradient of 33 degrees and four metal, low and flat canopy roofs created to augment sound, the stadium presents challenges to opposing teams unlike other venues especially in sync with the Video Board and display operators in the control room. The result is a loud and proud building that echoes with team chants and LED video inspired cheers from the passionate Floridian fanbase.
Other stadium tenants include the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Orlando Pride team, the Orlando City B organization in the United Soccer League and all their spirited fans.
Panasonic Moves Us
The engineering and specs that went into the construction of the main 4K LED video board are what set the product apart. First off, the 16mm pixel pitch is custom made and crystal clear measuring the width of almost three soccer goals enabling in-stadium viewers and broadcast viewers alike the opportunity to watch riveting real-time action along with the highest-quality instant replays Video Assistant Referees (VAR) see, in high-definition. Displays also show team and player match stats, partner advertising campaigns and social media platform engagements.
Next, the dual fascia ribbon screens were installed with a 20mm pixel pitch, each one measuring longer than 150’ displaying updated information all game long.
Finally, the ground level pitch perimeter displays mounted according to MLS standards spans 548 feet and are constantly refreshed on the field with replays, signage and revenue producing advertisement.
These advanced propriety technologies developed by Panasonic led to improved fan engagement for the loyal fandom resulting in increasing revenues from increased ticket sales, more sponsors and implementing innovative social initiatives.
