I can still remember that gloomy afternoon when England lost to Germany in the 2010 World Cup, I had just launched the Sports Techie community blog. Surely that Lampard shot was over the line!  There’s plenty more stories where that comes from, though that Geoff Hurst shot in the 1966 World Cup Final was miles over the line, wasn’t it?

It took the world of football until 2012 to finally agree on introducing goal-line technology and not a moment too soon.
