The ‘SPORTEL StartUp Competition’ in Europe collaboration with deltatre, is an truly international contest promoting the development of new business ideas, innovative thinking and challenging scenarios that create value in the sports industry.

“This is the third StartUp Competition run by SPORTEL in association with deltatre and each year it is gaining momentum and popularity,” said Carlo De Marchis, Chief Product and Marketing Officer at deltatre, as the Italian company marks their 30th born on date anniversary. He added,“Entrants could be working on an innovative sports product to increase fan engagement, or a tool that rights holding broadcasters should no longer be without. Many of the start-ups involved have seen important investments and business success thanks to their participation in the competition.”
I asked Carlo, what fan engagement technologies and features are hot right now that judges might be interested in?
De Marchis answered from Italy via Facebook Messenger,“We are looking into startups that are providing innovation and value for fan we are not that much technology obsessed even if it would be difficult to name a startup that is not innovating also through technology.”
“I think more and more we need companies that focus on service and value (through content maybe) for fans, we believe B2C will be the way forward as only with B2C you will be able to get that deep fan relationships that everybody is looking for.”
“That is why after years we changed our tagline to: Making Sport more entertaining this encompass all we are doing from the foundation up.”
Carlo will moderate the Startup Competition at the Leaders in Sport event held in London next week.
