StreamAMG OTT Streaming Services Hiring New Product And Commercial Directors

StreamAMG is one of the UK’s most respected OTT agencies and today announced the hiring of a new Product Director, Alex Hunte, and a Director of Commercial Strategy, Jonathon Rigby. The commercial directors are tasked with improving company strategy, platform development, proprietary technology, operations and customer support services while servicing some of the biggest entities across sport. The provider of sports OTT solutions aims to leverage their bona fide track record and working experiences with football over the past decade to increase business development opportunities worldwide. As the provider of streaming services for clubs, leagues and national governing bodies (NGBs) across Europe and overseas (ChivasTV), the sports technology company’s leadership plans to meet this time of rapid growth and development via these hires and increased infrastructure spending. The Sports Techie community blog gives a virtual congratulations to Alex and Jonathon for their timing landing these pivotal StreamAMG roles at the precise time when OTT is disrupting the status quo of video streaming for sport and entertainment properties around the globe, benefitting fan end users. As a result, StreamAMG’s revenue has doubled, while a deeper dive into their EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) saw a fourfold increase since 2017 when PA Media Group acquired them meaning 2022 revenues have been stellar thus far.

StreamAMG appoints new product and commercial directors (l to r) Product Director, Alex Hunte, Director of Commercial Strategy, Jonathon Rigby and StreamAMG’s CEO. Hugo Sharman.

My LinkedIn contact, Hugo Sharman, StreamAMG’s CEO, posted the following statement today on the social media platform. He said, “Absolutely delighted to welcome Alex Hunte and Jonathan Rigby to the leadership team. In many ways this marks the next significant chapter in the StreamAMG story.  In the past 12 months we’ve had the privilege to work with some brilliant brands and launch several #streaming and #ottvideo services, some of which are mentioned in this PR (more to come on those). So a big thank you the StreamAMG team for smashing it out of the park!  And a big thank you to all of our customers, partners, and our colleagues at PA Media for all your support.  Thank you, and onwards to the next chapter…!”

Top Tech and Business Recruits

Mr. Hunte comes onboard with StreamAMG after working the past three years with Tottenham Hotspur as their Head of Digital Products. The Spurs are a Premier League soccer team. Before that sports tech gig, Alex worked for UEFA in broadcast productions at events such as UEFA 2008 and UEFA Europa League. Developing streaming products and enhancing OTT video services are a match with his skill sets.

With the aim of directing the future development of the company’s advanced suite of streaming products, Hunte said, “StreamAMG has a fantastic reputation in the marketplace. I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue innovating and delivering solutions across our stellar portfolio of customers. More and more rights-holders are benefiting from the ability to take their content directly to their customers – we are committed to remaining at the forefront as the OTT market continues expanding worldwide.”

Mr. Rigby has excellent experience performing international CMO needs and has been commercial director for top worldwide brands in the sporting-verse the likes of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships most recently, in addition to Manchester United, BBC and British Cycling. Providing strategic direction and original thinking for StreamAMG and likeminded partners, clients and prospective businesses including startups are responsibilities Jonathan is well suited to make so for all.

Tasked with spearheading the commercial strategy for the company, Rigby said, “The next few years will be a fascinating time as global sport and entertainment brands continue to transition to OTT and D2C engagement.  StreamAMG has proven itself to be the best in class regarding end-to-end OTT Solutions.  I am excited to be working alongside Hugo, Alex and the brilliant team at StreamAMG as we evolve our offering and deliver excellent value and ROI for existing and new partners.”

StreamAMG Biz Dev

Representing 2022 additions to the StreamAMG portfolio as new clients are ATP Media with its flagship OTT service Tennis TV, Serie A football club Inter with Inter TV and many others. They successfully launched popular streaming services led by Premiership Rugby’s new PRTV Live platform, designed, installed and implemented for thousands of rugby fans to watch more live action on a weekly basis. StreamAMG also delivered record pre-season audience numbers for many English Premier League (Brentford FC) and EFL clubs at a time when the EPL increased revenue growth a reported 10% during 2020-21 over the previous season, in spite of COVID-19.

StreamAMG delivers some 20,000 live events a year throughout the sports and betting/gaming industry for satisfied clients like Matchroom. That number featured more than 3,500 in tennis alone for both the men’s and women’s professional games. Look for the company to continue to increase their sport diversity naming golf, basketball, netball, and others in the drive to become a major component in the surging direct-to-consumer sports market.

To meet the need for live and on-demand streams, the OTT leader will continue to invest heavily in products and services, most notably its in-app purchase feature in CloudPay (user authentication and digital payments) and new innovative cloud services with Amazon Web Services (AWS).

PA Media Group

PA Media Group comprises a diverse portfolio of specialist media companies, spanning news & information, technology and communications services.

Its flagship brand, PA Media, is the UK and Ireland’s leading news agency. Alongside PA Media, the Group is also the parent company of content library Alamy, broadcast tech firm Globelynx, strategic marketing consultancy Sticky Content, video streaming business StreamAMG, PA Betting Services, PA Training and PA TV Metadata.

PA Media Group has 20 shareholders, made up mainly of UK news and media businesses. The largest shareholders include DMGT plc, Informa plc, News UK plc and Reach plc.

Sports Techie, reinforcing StreamAMG’s status as one of the few service providers able to offer platform development, end-to-end delivery, distribution and payment services at scale using proprietary technology, both Hunte and Rigby plan to hit the ground running.

Sharman added, “We are delighted to welcome Alex and Jonathan to StreamAMG.  They are bringing extra depth and leadership to an already strong management team, and I’m incredibly excited to work with them.  The business is in great shape, and they will be key to our next phase of growth.”

May the rest of 2021 and the future be bright for all those at StreamAMG and their business constituents.
