Hotbox Sports And New Jersey Devils Sign Sponsorship Deal For New NHL Fantasy Hockey Game
New Jersey leads the U.S. state by state fight towards legalizing gambling while sports leagues are using sports technology products like apps to enhance the fan experience, which is why the new Hotbox Sports Ventures and New Jersey Devils sponsorship deal announced today is a significant partnership potentially in both spaces for fans who want to play legal hockey fantasy sports games over the Internet and eventually earn money by winning. NFL fantasy football is played once a week and might be an $11 billion business and the NHL certainly wants a piece of the pie as do innovative teams like the Devils. The Devils might play 2 or 3 games in a week so the key is to develop fantasy games that captivate the fan experience every night and also over the course of their 82 game season, and then during the exciting Stanley Cup playoff schedule.
NJ Devils
This is a historical NHL deal between Hotbox Sports Ventures, a Newark, New Jersey-based fantasy sports technology and content provider, and the Devils who enter into a sponsorship agreement with the proactive team. This November, the Devils are obliged to promote HotBoxSports.com as part of a fan introduction to a new, customized format of online fantasy sports gaming to global hockey fans. The sponsorship agreement will highlight the HotBoxSports website throughout the organization’s properties, especially in-arena, digital media and ever-popular social channels.
“Fantasy sports plays an important role in a fan’s experience, and we wanted to bring Devils fans a game where they could focus on their favorite players and their favorite team,” said Scott O’Neil, CEO of the New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center. “Our collaboration with Hotbox Sports, offering both free-to-play games and this first-of-its-kind entry-fee game, will ensure Devils fans have an unrivaled fantasy game experience.
The innovative partnership between the Devils and Hotbox Sports’ continues in 2014 with this new approach to fantasy sports. They will deliver a unique social and team-focused game, featuring players from their roster and only in Devils games. Right now you can play the New Jersey Lottery Presents – Devils Fantasy Challenge powered by HSV here.

Sports Techie, Fantasy sports are en fuego and thanks to HSV, so are the NJ Devils. The NHL is digital media savvy and knows how popular nearly any fantasy sports game is so naturally, hockey needs to fill the void for hungry fans who want more which the Devils are doing over the web.
If you want to gamble in New Jersey, you can do so via casino gambling in Atlantic City even though the heydays on days gone past have caused once popular casinos to close causing thousands of jobs to end. Horse racing, off-track betting and charity gambling are other legal way to place bets, as are the New Jersey lottery, amusement games and trendy social gambling. Will this HotBoxSports and Devils fantasy sports partnership include ways to earn money? Not at the moment but note that the state legalized online gambling last year, and are currently in court awaiting a ruling on whether sports betting will soon be legal outside Nevada.
When that day comes, look for another new fantasy game from the Devils and HSV to launch but until then, enjoy their newest free and fee-based fantasy hockey release next month.
See y’all later in Seattle and here in Atlanta.
