Look for an array of innovative new products in-store, online and at their updated retail outlets across the Grand Slam tennis tournament grounds located in Paris, France. The Sports Techie community blog has been a consistent voice for Wilson beginning in 2015 with The Burn blog, through sharing stories about the company’s wide variety of commitments to the game since their first spin as the official ball and racket stringer of Roland-Garros in 2020. The respected brand is excited to smash this iconic slam in 2024 and beyond with more product innovations and community experiences.

One of the planned local givebacks and promotions for the brand is Yannick Noah Day 2024 on May 25th, where more than 1500 rackets and 400 balls are to be donated to homegrown youth from two French charities, Sport Dans la Ville and USEP. It is designed as a means through sport to help young athletes living in underprivileged neighborhoods, tennis as an adapted sport, tennis for wellness, paratennis and actions to help the environment.

Wilson Sporting Goods Co. will continue to work with the French Tennis Federation (FFT) to bring the most innovative products to the greatest show on clay.

“Wilson’s partnership with Roland-Garros is one of the most iconic relationships in sport,” says Jason Collins, Global General Manager of Wilson Racquet Sports. “It is our mission to continue pushing the sport of tennis forward and empowering athletes to play at their best; we couldn’t be more honored to build upon that alongside the FFT in years to come.”

Known worldwide as the marquee tennis event in Paris, Wilson’s vision to create a better world through sport will also be paramount during Roland-Garros. Yannick Noah Day is a part of the youth-focused programming as will also be a tennis clinic with special guests from Wilson.

Stéphane Morel, FFT General Manager said, “We are enormously proud to continue our collaboration with Wilson, an Official Roland-Garros partner. Our new extended agreement is all about innovation. We are delighted to announce that Wilson will continue to lend its expertise and supply tennis balls and stringing services to the players at the tournament.”

Sports Techie, my first French Open Tweet and Shoot post was back in 2013.

The talented and relentless Roland-Garros ball kids, otherwise known as ball boys and ball girls, are a major component of this epic sporting event. Their main focus is to pick up the Wilson tennis balls after every point and to keep the players supplied with fresh balls. The clay courts do a number on the balls and can slow them down while also producing a high bounce compared to grass and hard courts, making the ball kids job and skill sets critical to the ebb and flow of all games, matches and sets.

I find it interesting that professional and amateur players both love to play with their racket strings, mostly to move a string or two back in place on the racket’s head as they sit between matches or during live play between points, but also to help calm their nerves in such a high-pressure tournament like Roland Garros. Having Wilson stringing services available must offer a similar calming effect.

The Roland Garros Collection promises to be a tennis fans’ delight with a wide assortment of technology infused racquets and accessories that can help you upgrade your tennis game and then some. Here is my review of the Blade V9 and Shift V1 rackets.

The community experience Yannick Noah Day pledges yearly to provide for local French youth is sure to be a thrill and lifetime memory for the sport loving kids in attendance, thanks to the two charities involvement. Some 22,000 fans took part in 2023 and many fans visited the tech-based entertainment offered at the Tech Place where 280 videos were taken at the Smash Corner, 150 at the Volodalen balance test and 200 at the Umpire stand.

Wilson and Roland Garros are continuing the love on and off the court.
