Zion Williamson First Look 81 NBA 2K20 Rating

NBA 2K fans and gamers are looking forward to watching and becoming Zion Williamson when NBA 2K20 releases around the world on 2KDay, September 6, 2019. The number one pick of this year’s NBA draft by the New Orleans Pelicans, Zion is considered a generational talent the likes of current superstars Lebron James, Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo. His NBA 2K ranking of an 81 makes him the highest rated rookie since 2011. The multiyear partnership with video game publisher, Take-Two Interactive Software, ensures his likeness into the video game, his presence at events aimed at consumers, brand initiates and social media activations. The Sports Techie community blog is virtually pumped up to play, Got Next!

NBA 2K Legend in the Making

The NBA 2K20 cover features LA Lakers superstar Anthony Davis and recently retired Dwayne Wade but the real hype with this version belongs to Zion. The former Duke men’s basketball standout averaged 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks, shooting an astonishing 68.0 percent of his shots as a one-and-done, college basketball sensation. He also brings a signature 360 dunk and a windmill repertoires of dunks from all kinds of angles to the professional hoops league.

Fans worldwide cannot wait to see this legend in the making play live or use his character in one of the most popular of sports video games. NBA® 2K is the highest rated annual sports title of the present console generation according to 2008 – 2019 Metacritic.com.

Zion said, “I’m excited to officially join Team 2K and be a part of this global phenomenon, where people around the world can play as me. I’m ready to put my imprint on basketball culture and be a part of the team that represents what’s next in the sport.”

Will he reach the status of 2K game representatives such as the Warriors Stephen Curry, Rockets James Harden, or the legendary Shaquille O’Neal? Williamson said, “My game was inspired by Michael Jordan.” He added, “I watched a lot of LeBron growing up, Kobe, T-Mac, those are like the best players, you know, I feel like I would try to like, take small parts of their game and somehow put it in mine.”

This updated game will surely fly off the shelves and be downloaded in mass setting sales records without Zion playing one second of official NBA ball yet.

“Zion represents the best of the NBA’s up and coming talent and we are excited to welcome him to Team 2K,” said Jason Argent, Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations at NBA 2K. “For more than 20 years, NBA 2K has identified and worked with the best basketball talent in the world. It’s been incredible to witness what Zion can do on the court and we’re excited to grow with him throughout his career.”

Williamson was asked about being in the game, the process of motion capture and how many video cameras were present during his 2K filming session. He guessed 101 cams and was told they were using 138 so he then upped his prediction to a total of 145 cameras mounted around the room. Zion said, “Crazy man, like, nothing really can beat that, I’m in the game, like, I don’t have to create my player, I’m already there, so I’m excited about that.”

Zion emphasized, “Everyone is saying I am the next LeBron, or whoever, but I’m just Zion, and I’m just trying to be the next version of me.”
