doesn’t mean a person can’t learn to like sports wherever the GPS says you are located at the moment. There are plenty of ways to enjoy sports offline and online via a digital device or computer whether you’re simply a spectator or part of the game. Here are a few ideas that will get you pumped quicker than a Friday night lights pep really.
Find Your Team
Sports are a lot more entertaining to watch when you’re pulling for a favorite team. It’s all about making a connection and feeling like you’re part of the team, win or lose. A few good places to show your support include your alma mater, a team in your city or a franchise your family supports. With that in mind go Whittier College Poets and Redmond Mustangs, hooray for Seattle, Los Angeles, Detroit and Atlanta, and cheers for the Michigan State Spartans!
Take and Make Bets
Putting a little money on the line makes anything more interesting if you can afford to lose the dough. There are some people who pay attention to sports simply because this type of gambling gives them at least some level of control even though the book makers and juice are almost a sure thing. Once you feel the thrill of winning when a sports team wins it’s hard not to get hooked. Same as playing video games, eSports and drone racing.
Today, you don’t have to make a trip to Las Vegas to place a sports bet or risk a relationship by making wagers with your friends. You can try your luck online at one of the many betting sites that cater specifically to sports. It’s a little bit of a gray area, but right now the U.S. government is reviewing federal gambling laws that would outline regulations for online sports betting and fantasy sports. New Jersey may be the first state to change the status quo.
If you’re looking for the best odds baseball is your best bet. Sports betting websites like Cover The Spread 365 even offer free MLB picks during the season, which helps maximize your payout. Cover The Spread 365 is your ultimate sports chat place for sports betting on every game, every day. They break down each mlb free pick and tell you what trends and stats matter to make sure you cover the spread! With so many baseball games slated on each day, Cover The Spread 365 helps point you in the right direction!
Watch With Other Fans
It’s hard not to get into the spirit when you’re surrounded by loyal sports fans. They may seem a little crazy at times, but their love for the game is infectious.
There are three primary places where you can watch a sporting event with a bunch of energized fans: the stadium where the game is being played, at a house party or at a sports bar. Watch parties are the newest craze. Just keep in mind that at a sports bar things can get rowdy and there may be spectators for both sides. You may want to do research online to find a sports bar that’s known for your preferred sport or team.
Join a Local League
If you’ve never belonged to a sports team before you’re missing out. Research has shown that kids benefit from joining team sports, and those benefits can last a lifetime. But even adults can get real value out of being part of a sports team. In addition to physical activity, joining a team helps build camaraderie with others and improve communication skills.
Does your business have a company softball team? Then sign up. You may be able to win a few brownie points with the boss while gaining a newfound appreciation for athletics. Another option is intramural sports offering by a local YMCA or social club. This is a great way to get introduced to a sport because many leagues are about having fun and hanging out rather than competing for a title. Coed is a super fun way to go.
Join a Fantasy Sports League
This list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning fantasy sports leagues, traditional or daily. They are a great way to get involved in sports if you lack the physical coordination and desire to join an actual league.
Getting involved in growing fantasy sports trend requires knowledge about current players and teams since you’re acting like the manager of your own team. Building a winning fantasy team also requires keen knowledge of the game and thinking strategically. It’s a perfect pastime for people who love to crunch numbers and analyze data. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself watching games live and continually checking online for the latest stats. The caveat is winning cash in states where daily fantasy sports is legal such as Georgia.
Being a sports fan comes with a lot of upside that you’d otherwise miss out on by shunning all organized athletics. There are so many sports and ways to be involved today, if you look hard enough you’re bound to find a sport or team that peaks your interest.
