First Round Draft Pick’s Effort and Attitude Align with Brand’s Mentality
Kenny Pickett was added to Ready® sports nutrition company’s roster of athletes in time for the second week of the current NFL season. The first quarterback taken in the 2022 NFL Draft was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers and joins co-owner and LA Rams world champion defensive end, Aaron Donald, himself a legend in Pennsylvania after attending the University of Pittsburgh, the same college as Pickett, as brand advocates. The newest company spokesperson was familiar with the products because as a Division I player at Pitt, he already used the all-natural fruit-based drinks sports drinks, protein and snack bars, protein water, plant based functional snacks and protein powder. Pickett signed on to promote products he uses during training, its Sports Drink and a few other select Ready® products in his various online and non-digital platforms. The Sports Techie community blog knows Steelers Nation is excited to watch the development of Pickett as he attempts to be the successor to Ben Roethlisberger and join the likes of Steelers’ QB greats like Terry Bradshaw who sits atop the list. Much like he’s a natural Steelers player and leader in the making, Kenny’s relationship with the brand while as Pitt made him a logical extension of the partnership during his rookie season and beyond.
“Kenny already knew the fueling and recovery benefits of our products from his own experience. We really focus on our mentality and mission; and it became obvious he was a great fit to be a member of the Ready® Team,” said company founder and CEO Pat Cavanaugh.
Pickett’s Bio
Pickett was drafted as a 2022 first-round draft pick by the Steelers after completing an epic senior season for the ages, earning himself a Heisman Trophy finalist position. The first team All-American was voted ACC Football Player and co-Athlete of the Year all while leading Pitt to an ACC Championship.
“Kenny is a great example of continuing to work hard work and remembering it’s not where you start it’s where you finish, which is a pillar of the Ready® mentality that defines our brand,” said Cavanaugh. “Throughout his career and breakout senior season, he continued to get better and better achieving one goal after the next. He’s just getting started.”
The Ready Team
Along with Donald, Giannis Antetokounmpo, the NBA star, former world champion during the 2021 season and global basketball icon, is also a co-owner. The three professional athletes join top rated American female tennis player Jessica Pegula as Ready® brand champions and ambassadors.
“I’m excited to be part of the Ready® Team especially since I’ve experienced the benefits of the products when I was at Pitt,” said Pickett. “The more Pat and I spoke about the brand and their mission to inspire athletes to take more pride in their effort than their talent; that attitude and mentality resonated with me and how I approach my football career.”

Sports Techie, I have a dear friend I’ve never met in person named Edmond Grandizio. We met in a Detroit Lions chat room of all places years ago and connected on Facebook. Ed worked for years with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and is the most loyal fan of Pittsburgh sports fan you ever want to meet. The thing is, that is the way Steelers Nation is as a whole. Home games at newly named Acrisure Stadium are all sold out so their fanbase travels to other stadiums for away game in force and do what’s known as a ‘take over’ effect. You have to respect that as a neutral fan or one that doesn’t like the Steelers.
Pickett already knows about the Steelers passionate fandom as he was raised in PA like Donald and played his whole football career there, from youth to high school, to college and now the pros.
Cavanaugh knows how this path is as he is also another Pittsburgh legend.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist or PhD in sports marketing to see the absolute fit Pickett is to be a Ready athlete.
Kenny sits behind Mitchell Mitchell Trubisky as the starting Steelers QB for the time being while he mentors, pays his dues and continues preparing for the starting job.
While he trains for that day to come and expected Super Bowl championships, Ready® has his back.
See you later sportstechie in Seattle, Atlanta and around the world!
