Miguel Gurwitz pulled the broadcasting ultimate feat with his Telemundo World Cup and NBC Telemundo Sunday Night Football Game all-dayer, powering through more than 18 hours of Thanksgiving Day and NFL coverage from Qatar. Gurwitz is the play-by-play voice for NBC Telemundo’s Sunday Night Football Games alongside former Arizona Cardinal Rolando Cantu, who is his partner for all SNF games this year for the first time. Today, at 2pm ET, he ends his soccer day with the evening Spain vs. Germany matchup at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, completing his quadruple-header of matches from Qatar alongside the legendary Andres Cantor. Then at night here in the United States and early in next mourning in Doha, he finishes his announcing marathon with the SNF game between the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles from Lincoln Financial Field. The Sports Techie community blog gives our virtual salud to Miguel for his broadcast superstar effort unlike any sporting event announcing performance known to this curator. Telemundo, TelemundoDeportes.com and Peacock are covering the 2022 FIFA World Cup with unprecedented digital, TV and and streaming coverage.
World Cup and SNF Marathon
Beginning at 11 AM in Doha, Gurwitz began anchoring all of Telemundo’s record-setting World Cup coverage, and then as day turns into night, switches from futbol to football, as he called The New England Patriots at Minnesota Vikings game in Minnesota LIVE from Qatar on Thanksgiving and then Packers- Eagles tonight. With an anticipated finish time of 2 AM in Doha, it means Gurwitz marathon will last over 18 hours, the ultimate futbol to football call.
Telemundo Deportes
The native of Mexico lives now in Miami, FL where Telemundo is headquartered. The programming division of NBC Sports Group, owned by Comcast, is Telemundo Deportes. Spanish language sports events are aired on NBCUniversal’s television networks, Telemundo and Universo. Telemundo Deportes also has a headquarter located in Stamford, CT.
Sports Techie, Miguel Gurwitz represents the sport viewing Latino community as another hard working fan of both futbol and football, also known as soccer. His work ethic is similar to many Hispanic and Latino Telemundo Deportes fans across North America.
May your national team win the World Cup, and NFL team win the Super Bowl, go Seattle Seahawks!
In Qatar, I’m rooting on Ecuador, where my mom is from. Also, Poland, where my dad’s roots are from. And Team USA because I was born in America.
Gurwitz needs for his Mexican team to pull a miracle and reach the next group stage.
Are you a fellow 200%er too?
See you later sportstechie in Seattle, Atlanta and around the world!
