Kitman Labs’ Intelligence Platform To Deploy Across Tokyo Verdy Academy With J1 And WE League Next

Kitman Labs Strikes Deal With Top Club In J1 And WE League, Tokyo Verdy

Leading Sports Science and Technology Company’s ‘Intelligence Platform’ to Immediately Deploy Across Academy

Football club Tokyo Verdy in Japan will immediately deploy Kitman Labs’ global enterprise SaaS platform as a single, centralized operating system designed for performance intelligence with the club’s Academic Teams (M’s U9-U18; W’s U15, U18). The global enterprise SaaS platform launch gives the top Japanese soccer club, Sports only such advanced operating system used by the largest and most innovative leagues, teams and regulatory bodies in elite Sport and Defense, provided by the leading sports science and technology company based in Menlo Park, CA. The significant deal announced today calls for the iP: Intelligence Platform to likely expand to include the Men’s First Team (J1 League) and Women’s First Team, Nippon TV Tokyo Verdy Beleza (WE League – Japan Women’s Empowerment Professional Football League). The Sports Techie community blog reported last year about Kitman Labs similar arrangements with all Premier League Academies and MLS Next, Kitman Labs is headquartered in Silicon Valley with offices in Dublin and Manchester.

From the capital of “TOKYO,” Kitman Labs will help create a team that can compete in the world’s top level and take the lead in improving Japan’s domestic competitiveness and expansion of its range

The analytics capabilities enabled by The Intelligence Platform will allow us to support our coaches, practitioners and athletes with the information necessary to make objective, evidence-based decisions across every aspect of the Club and more specifically, across the areas of player health, performance and development,” said Takaaki Nakamura, President of Tokyo Verdy.

Academy’s Historical Rollout

First, look for the Academy to utilize the Performance MedicinePerformance Optimization and Coaching & Development Solutions in iP – combining medical, performance and talent development data into a centralized, interactive data and analytics system to unlock player performance outcomes and inform talent development strategy. iP will ultimately enable the Club to integrate and unify all data and analytics from the Academy to the men’s and women’s first teams in one platform.

Nakamura added, “From a player and pathway development perspective, we can now combine the unique approach and philosophy of the Verdy Method with the data science of the platform to create a more informed, repeatable strategy for success across all teams.”

This “whole club data solution” will serve to drive cross-departmental collaboration, eliminate data and information silos, and provide internal stakeholders with a complete, real-time view of each athlete for the purposes of unlocking performance potential and systemizing a talent development pipeline.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Tokyo Verdy as they look to integrate a robust data and analytics infrastructure into the Organization – informing both tactical and strategic decision-making and ultimately, leveraging that intelligence to accelerate the advancement of the clubs within their respective leagues,” said Stephen Smith, CEO and Founder of Kitman Labs.

The predecessor “Yomiuri Soccer Club” was founded in 1969 as Japan’s first club aiming to become professional. They joined the J-League from the first year and became the first champion. The team name is coined from the Portuguese word ‘VERDE’, meaning green, the team color. The team is involved in sports and regional development with Tokyo as its home town. They have a consistent development system for both boys and girls, from primary schools to the First team, and have produced many professional footballers.

Kitman Labs

Kitman Labs has an established track record of working with top teams and leagues across a variety of sports, including soccer, basketball, rugby, and American football. The company’s technology has been used by some of the world’s most elite soccer organizations, including Bayer LeverkusenChelsea FCLiverpool FC and Sporting Lisbon. Kitman Labs recently announced the launch and deployment of The Football Intelligence Platform across all Premier League AcademiesMLS Next and the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

The company represents the industry’s largest network of elite and youth organizations (2000+), creating the industry’s largest dataset of talent, performance, and medical data for all stages of the athlete lifecycle.

Sports Techie, Tokyo Verdy has a publicly stated vision, “Towards being the world’s No. 1 comprehensive club.”

Having the unified iP will keep the club uniform and consistent across it’s entire outfit, enabling the improved management and operation of amateur and professional soccer teams while taking a sports tech enabled step towards fulfilling the vision.

This performance intelligence deployment also benefits Verdy’s mission of, “Nurturing talent who can shine on the world stage,” beginning with the Academies by focusing on the potential of children who hold the key to the next generation.

After watching FX Network’s amazing production of Shogun, I found it interesting that there is a Feudal Japan tie into the Portuguese culture and the word ‘VERDE’ signifying green, representing the team color. The symbolic tie into Portugal by Tokyo Verdy is fascinating knowing it is part of a century-defining civil war.

I digressed, as the main story here is Kitman Labs helping to take another major sports club, in this case, Tokyo Verdy, to an iP future that begins now.

Much respect 敬意 to Tokyo Verdy and to Kitman Labs, led by CEO Stephen Smith.
