Eaton and the Miami Dolphins to Award Free Ephesus LED Sports Lighting System to a Miami-Dade or Broward County High School Football Field
The Miami Dolphins together with Eaton, a power management company, are awarding a free Ephesus LED sports lighting system valued at more than $100,000 to a local high school football field as part of the “Light Like the Pros” community programming initiative. The Sports Techie community blog covers sustainability related stories and trends such as this unique program that upgrades a lucky facility with state-of-the-art energy efficient retrofit solution lights. Miami-Dade and Broward counties in South Florida with high schools or facilities in need that allow high school football games are encouraged to apply. Helping to grow the sport via thoughtful philanthropy and cutting-edge sports technology such as this creative giveaway is critical because youth participation has been on a steady decline since the realities and dangers of concussions is now mainstream news.

“Here within the Miami Dolphins we support a mission to transform the lives of youth football players by instilling character building and reinforcing safety standards that help to increase football participation and grow a new generation of Dolphins fans,” Miami Dolphins Senior Vice President of Communications and Community Affairs Jason Jenkins said. “We’re supportive of this community initiative to better illuminate a high school field in South Florida for the betterment of their athletes and we commend Eaton for stepping up and supporting high school football in South Florida.”
Eligible H.S. programs or venues are required to already have a sports lighting system installed.
Athletic directors or school board representatives who are responsible for facilities at multiple schools need to write a short essay (300-500 words) about what are your limitations, existing problems and current issues with your present lighting situation are, and also describe the reason (s) an energy-efficient LED lighting system can benefit the school, the student body and the affected community/county, and then be entered to win.
The deadline to enter in December 23. 2017.
“We look forward to providing one deserving high school football field in South Florida with a state-of-the-art LED lighting system offering many of the same benefits of the system at Hard Rock Stadium,” said Mike Lorenz, president, Eaton’s Ephesus Lighting business. “Over the past five years, professional sports teams have learned to understand the benefits and reliability of an LED lighting system. It’s now time for high schools and municipalities to have the same benefits available to them.”
Ephesus All Field Series
High schools, colleges and municipalities with a high-quality, cost-effective, versatile and controllable outdoor LED sports lighting solution can benefit from Eaton’s Ephesus All Field Series. Engineered to satisfy customers’ specific needs, its multiple mounting options, low weight and low Effective Projected Area (EPA) make it one of the first LED fixtures designed to easily retrofit into existing sports lighting infrastructure to dramatically reduce installation costs. The enhanced engineered optics efficiently deliver uniform light on the field to significantly reduce unwanted spill light and sky glow. Typically, a facility that switches to Eaton’s Ephesus LED lighting solutions will reduce energy costs by 70 percent over typical legacy sports lighting systems and provide little to no maintenance.
In addition, Eaton will be a supporting collaborator of the prominent Dade vs. Broward All-Star Game presented by Broward College. The popular postseason contest, in partnership with the Broward County Athletic Association (BCAA) and Greater Miami Athletic Conference (GMAC), will feature top prospects from local high schools. Top youth football players from Broward and Miami-Dade County that play in the American Youth Football League (AYFL), Florida Youth Football League (FYFL), Great Miami Pop Warner, Gold Coast Pop Warner, Miami Xtreme, National Youth Football League (NYFL) and Youth Academic Sports League (YASL) also will participate in games throughout the day. Top high school coaches will lead the youth football all-star teams, creating the opportunity for mentorship and development of youth coaches.
