The Sports Techie community blog chatted with Miquel Lorenzo, Senior Vice President of Sports Content, on a video call this afternoon to learn more about this technology-driven story as it pertains to the Spanish speaking fanbase that hungers for more sports content, whether live or on-demand, enabling NBCUniversal to further leverage the Hispanic buying power across North America. The combination of distributing across a linear channel, streaming service and social media, aims to augment how Hispanic fans experience sport through the delivery of 50+ hours of weekly Spanish language sports content with an emphasis on both popular and fringe, live sporting events. Telemundo Deportes is the sports division of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, the leading U.S. Spanish-language sports production brand, and home to the biggest live events and most relevant sports content across all platforms. U.S. Hispanics are ready for FAST sports streaming, especially with the FIFA World Cup 26™ under a year away. Telemundo Deportes Ahora reinvents Spanish-language sports TV by blending streaming, social, and linear production into a unified, next-gen workflow aimed at growing audiences, improving efficiency, and unlocking new revenue streams.
This new streaming channel delivers a dynamic, always-on sports viewing experience, with more than 50 hours of new Spanish-language content weekly,including original programming, live shows and select live sporting events, designed for today’s digital-first audiences. And as the countdown to FIFA World Cup 26™ intensifies, Telemundo Deportes Ahora will feature comprehensive coverage across fútbol and beyond, expert commentary and a fresh take on sports storytelling. Telemundo Deportes Ahorawill complement Telemundo’s most valuable sports rights with additional properties, such as Básquetbol LATAM, select MMA events, Bare-Knuckle Boxing, and Pro-Paddle League.

Telemundo will premiere new live studio shows exclusively for Telemundo Deportes Ahora. - Telemundo Deportes Al Día – 1 p.m. ET: Hosted by Carmen Boquín, the show kicks off the day with the freshest sports news and a preview of the day’s programming. Carmen delivers key headlines and sets the stage for the rest of the sports coverage.
- Puesta a Punto – 6 p.m. ET: An engaging show filled with debate, analysis, and in-depth commentary. Telemundo’s roster of award-winning sports talent brings their experience and insight, inviting audiences to take part in the conversation.
- El Pelotazo Ahora – 11 p.m. ET: Hosted by Diego Arrioja, Pablo Mariño, and Verónica Rodríguez with regular contributions by Adriana Monsalve, the show serves as an extension of the network’s late-night sports show with a 360° approach, energetic hosts, guests, and lively debates, delivering a fresh take on the day’s most talked-about sports moments.

One of the major drivers for Telemundo Deportes Ahora is the FIFA World Cup 2026, hosted for the first time by three countries, America, Mexico and Canada. All 104 matches for the expanded tournament will air across Telemundo, Universo, Peacock, with additional pregame, postgame and between game content also on digital and social media channels. Lorenzo says, Telemundo Deportes Ahora will feature World Cup programming, content creation via a partnership with FIFA, and watch parties with influencers.
Miquel reminisced on the 1994 World Cup held here in the United States and how it impacted the growth of the game and youth soccer, helped to launch the MLS, and led to an increase in futbol rights fees.
Most all the content on Telemundo Deportes Ahora will broadcast in Spanish, however, look for some content in English, especially in light of the record-breaking Premier League viewership in the U.S. because of NBCUniversal properties.
Be sure to tune in for coverage of the Winter Olympics 2026 come February, the Summer Olympics in 2028, with NBC showcasing their new NBA rights launching in Feb. NFL Sunday Night Football and the Super Bowl are top sporting events Telemundo Deportes will also broadcast live to Hispanic fans.
The goal of this new FAST channel is to have a back yard, tailgating vibe, with curated, Spanish language content distributed across linear, streaming and social, tailor made for Hispanic viewers.
