The Hydrow Flow Way

Low impact workouts for former professional basketball players are important as many are dealing with retirement on bad knees, hips and ankles as a result of the constant pounding players get running, jumping and cutting on the hardwood and blacktop courts, throughout a lifetime of games, practices and rehab. Offering former NBA and WNBA professionals the option to train with Hydrow Flow interactive rowing machines is truly a health benefit that also steadies the mind resulting in improved sleep.

Every Legends rower has the sport tech enhanced option to select from a number of waterways around the world while secure in their house or office space by using the Live Outdoor Reality™ (LOR) system.

Private, one-on-one sessions together with Hydrow Coaches ensures the physical activities per row are performed mechanically sound. A full-body, rowing workout uses up to 86% of the muscles in the body making it one of the best workouts of all. An added benefit being the option to connect with an expert coach providing members with the ability to communicate with like-minded health and wellness experts, an actual human connection that can be priceless for retirees.

“Working with Legends of Basketball is an incredibly special opportunity for us, as it allows us to support these elite athletes throughout the next chapter in their careers,” said Bruce Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Hydrow, Inc. “Hydrow offers a dynamic, low-impact cardiovascular workout, and the fact that you’re able to work out with others mimics the teamwork these athletes have known their entire lives. Sports Techie, in the past, many, many moons ago, I sold a variety of high-end to entry level rowing machines at the former Busy Body Home Fitness, known today as Johnson Fitness & Wellness. This sales experience gave me the opportunity to train on the benefits of rowing while understanding the bells and whistles each fitness product came with, along with learning how to install, repair, and put them together out of the box.

What I can tell you is be sure to use proper rowing mechanics, especially if you have back issues because if you do not, a rowing motion can aggravate past injuries or may cause new ones. This is a critical reason why you should log in and use Hydrow coaches whenever possible. Having the virtual aspect of working out with trainers like what Peloton bikes and treadmills provide to owners is proving to be popular with users, Hydrow offers this same type of web-based service for rowers.

I’ll also add this, rowing is a fat burning dream. Try doing a row on a higher resistance setting and with longer session times. Even short workouts with high intensity intervals will do wonders for your weight loss and maintenance, as well as core, arm and leg strength training.

While I have not used Hydrow, I’ll take the word of Legends like Hunter and Calderón when it comes to the value of using their rowing machines.

I do support the NBRPA’s push towards using sports tech and apps for the good of their membership.

The choice is yours, make it a good one.

See you later sportstechie in Seattle, Atlanta and around the world!
