The United States Football League (USFL) officially announced Henry Schein Medical, the U.S. medical business of Henry Schein, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSIC), as their official medical product sponsor. Keeping the athletes in the game while making sure the players are safe and heathy then beyond into old age are the highest priorities for Dr. Jim Ellis, USFL Chief Medical Officer, especially concerning distribution and access to electronic defibrillators. Many of the Sports Techie community blog readers and followers were watching live as I was when Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin needed an on-premise defibrillator and some quick thinking EMT professionals to literally save his life on the playing field during an important seeding game in Cincinnati against the Bengals that was eventually postponed, then cancelled. This sports medicine business offering and corporate partnership with the USFL ensures Henry Schein Medical’s ability to provide athletic trainers with the products, supplies, and solutions as needed to help prevent injuries, treat medical issues and ensure the athletes are in the game. “Comprehensive, quality medical care and treatment, is necessary,” said Ellis. United by football helps keep athletes in the game.
“Player health and safety is the USFL’s top priority, so we’re proud to partner with Henry Schein to empower our athletic trainers with the best products to support our world-class athletes,” said Dr. Jim Ellis, USFL Chief Medical Officer. “We’ve relied on the experts at Henry Schein throughout the 2023 season, and this partnership has strengthened the USFL’s already high standards to provide best-in-class care for our players.”

Sports Techie, according to American Heart Association News, “Receiving immediate CPR and an electric shock from a defibrillator are the key drivers of survival for the roughly 350,000 U.S. adults who go into cardiac arrest outside of a hospital each year. But according to American Heart Association statistics, bystanders administer CPR about 40% of the time and AEDs even less so. About 1 in 10 people who have cardiac arrests in public get this type of help.
The USFL with the support of Henry Schein Medical’s Athletics and Schools business medical products, including all-important defibrillators, are working together to be prepared for the most serious to the most common injuries, and those in-between.
Knowing Henry Schein operates through a centralized and automated distribution network, with a selection of more than 300,000 branded products and Henry Schein corporate brand products in their distribution centers are facts that matter.
