Elite Turf came across the pond with Act Global and just landed their first 100% recyclable Power System, synthetic turf installation in the United States at Ranney School in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. Previously not available in America, Elite Turf brings healthier artificial turf to the U.S. that is more playable and has increased durability over the competition. Student athletes and local citizens that exercise on it can thank Ranney School and their partner, Princeton Soccer Academy (PSA) for the complete re-turf of the 80,000 square foot field used by the soccer, lacrosse and field hockey teams for training, practice and games. The investment arm of PSA enabled this deal to happen making it the first across the nation. The Sports Techie community blog chatted with Elite Turf USA management last month about their Xtreme Turf system used in Europe.
More Eco-Friendly Turf
Elite Turf’s POWER System features a triple-fiber woven turf and non-rubber infill making it stronger and longer lasting than the more traditional tufted turf. ProPlay® pad Foundation tests soft yet plays firm resulting in less injuries. Unlike other synthetic turf manufacturers, this system does not use a polyurethane backing. Because this turf is 100% recyclable after the product life cycle ends, the need to come up with large disposal costs is virtually eliminated.
The interlocking fibers are vertical standing and offer improved ball roll, true footing and even reduces sun glare and hot temperatures.
“We are excited to have this state-of-the-art technology that will increase the safety for our student-athletes,” said Ranney School Athletic Director Natalie Gorman. “The ability to feature the same playing ground as the professionals use on our campus is an incredible benefit for our students. This system will increase the playing hours, be better on the environment, and increase the safety of our students.”
POWER System features a healthier infill for the environment which mean humans and pets are less at risk too. Recycled ocean plastic is used to create the infill using a patent-pending process resulting in excess of 1 million empty bottle eliminated out of the oceans per field install.
Ranney School and PSA
The co-ed, secular preparatory school serves kids age 3 through Grade 12 independent throughout Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
PSA is regarded as a leading youth soccer organization. They offer an elite player development model. PSA uses an all-inclusive program for the youngest lads and laddies just beginning their soccer paths starting at 3-years old as well as national and international-level competitions for 18 year old teens.
Their locations are North Jersey (PSA SDFC), New Jersey Shore (PSA Wildcats), and Central New Jersey (PSA Princeton).
Elite Turf
Elite Turf is a distribution and installation partner of Act Global, the synthetic turf global leader, POWER system, Elite Turf is a 100% recyclable turf system, more playable than grass and more durable than other synthetic turf systems. They claim it is healthier than both.

Act Global
Act Global’s synthetic turf technology is made at an ISO 9001 Quality Certified manufacturing facility in Calhoun, Georgia, They have conducted field installations in more than 90 countries.
The company is a FIFA Quality Licensee and preferred supplier for World Rugby, the International Hockey Federation, and the United Soccer League. The Act Global UBU Speed Series is the leading brand for NFL & NCAA Division I Football Fields and has been featured in the New Orleans Superdome 2013, 2017, and 2018, New York Met Life Stadium 2014, and Minneapolis U.S. Bank Stadium 2016 and 2019.
Sports Techie, the USA turf revolution is obviously on. Thousands of turf fields across the US use rubber infill which can cause medical conditions. Disposing of existing synthetic turf is usually an added expense many owners and field operators are not ready to make.
Those people and groups in charge of purchasing new turf fields need to please consider the environment as a top priority. Cutting corners on turf is not wise.
Ocean plastic turf is changing the industry for good because its better and sustainability matters.
