Elite Turf Power System By Act Global Comes To America

Elite Turf’s POWER System By Act Global

Elite Turf USA recently partnered with Act Global to bring a more sustainable artificial grass to the United States, previously only available in Europe. COVID-19 raised health awareness for all and made safety more paramount for athletes. Thousands of synthetic turf fields in ballparks, arenas and stadiums, and park and recreation facilities across the nation are using crumbling rubber tire infill and rubber tire mulch, reported to be loaded with carcinogens and irritants. Breathing, skin and eye issues, as well as cancer have long been associated with the use of rubber synthetic turf. Elite Turf understands the industry shift towards health, safety and sustainability led by Act Global. Elite Power System features Xtreme Turf triple-fiber woven and non-rubber infill designed to be more sustainable. The Sports Techie community blog chatted with Greg Adams, Elite Turf USA, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and John Newman, President, about developing a first-of its-kind, recyclable turf that enhances safety, playability and durability by using recycled ocean plastics instead of rubber. Their newest U.S. installation is at the Ranney School in New Jersey.

Elite Turf today announced it has partnered with world-renowned artificial grass company Act Global to bring its all-in-one innovative POWER System™ to the U.S. market.

Player Health

Coronavirus dominates the 2020 sports headlines. MLB is canceling games as the NBA bubble ramps up and NFL training camp is about to begin, but there are countless other safety concerns for athletes, families and field owners alike. The health dangers presented by rubber tire filled turf are real.

Rubber synthetic turf crumbles are hazardous to health according to a Yale study that discovered 96 chemicals in synthetic turf, broken down to about 20% probable carcinogens with another 40% leading to irritation. The chemicals feel like they seep into the skin whenever I played lacrosse, soccer or football. Players also ingest these nasty toxins.

Synthetic turf rubber infill develops uneven surfaces as well making some more prone to injury. Global warming has led to increased temperatures and UVs creating hotter fields that also led to more injuries. When turf fields are discarded they often end up in landfills or the side of the road.

Act Global

Act Global’s mission is to enhance global land use and positively impact society through the use of synthetic turf.

Act Global is truly international having installed more than 2,000 sports field installations covering 90 countries. Act Global strives to positively impact society and maximize land use through the use of synthetic turf.

John Baize, CEO of Act Global, said, “We are very excited to partner with Elite Turf and its management team. Our combined strengths will deliver premium synthetic turf systems that are built with both the player and planet in mind.”

Act Global has an ISO 9001 Quality Certified manufacturing facility in Calhoun, Georgia. That part of Georgia was long considered the carpet capital of the US due to all the skilled labor and is now the turf capital as well because every major turf manufacturer is within 20 miles of one another.

Act Global is a FIFA Quality Licensee and preferred supplier for World Rugby, the International Hockey Federation, and the United Soccer League. The Act Global UBU Speed Series is the leading brand for NFL & NCAA Division I Football Fields and has been featured in the New Orleans Superdome 2013, 2017, and 2018, New York Met Life Stadium 2014, and Minneapolis U.S. Bank Stadium 2016 and 2019.

Act Global is the official synthetic turf donor for the Homeless World Cup, impacting the lives of more than 1 million homeless individuals.

Elite Turf Power System

Elite Turf signed on as a distribution and installation partner of Act Global, a synthetic turf global leader.

Elite Turf POWER System™, is a 100% recyclable turf system. Adams and Newman both emphasized the playability of their turf compared to grass. Because it is also more durable than other synthetic turf systems a new 12-year warranty is in the pipeline. Better drainage is another product key feature.

A Lisport machine simulated the actual play on the Elite Turf field needing to register 30K for certification but registered at 100K while maintaining UV stability.

Elite Turf’s POWER System is:

  • More durable than traditional tufted turf
  • 100% recyclable
  • Made of interlocked fibers, offering superior and consistent ball roll, steady footing, and reduced glare and heat
  • Made of a safer and healthier infill

The pricing structure varies on whether it is a new field or a redo. Installing a new base properly is critical to installation success.

Sports Techie, communities, teams and players around the globe are switching to synthetic turf with a conscious. The Elite Turf Power System plays up to 28 degrees cooler, needs less maintenance and uses recycled ocean plastic rather than rubber infill for added health, safety and durability.

Initially, private schools are a target market as their sales force grows to 12 to 24 reps. News regarding an Elite Turf USA and lacrosse entity partnership will be released shortly.

Act Global playability is now available via Elite Turf POWER System™.
