Icon Source is a digital marketplace enabling name, image and likeness (NIL) endorsements for student-athletes and the brands they connect with. Today, they launched Icon Access, a new incentive program for members developed for NCAA athletes to sign up and enjoy access to discounts by brands, special offers and incentives for cash. The progressive program expects to grow to more than $25 million in value to student-athletes during the first year, making this the largest combined NIL deal to date. The Sports Techie community blog has watched the wild, wild west of NIL business take off for male and female players and the brands they align with as influencers across many different university sport programs. Founded by Chase Garrett, Icon Source developed an on-demand online marketplace platform ready to bring together brands, agents, and athletes seeking sports endorsements in what he considers, untapped segments of the industry. The use of proprietary AI technology together with a sports marketing hub pairs athletes and brands based on social audience demographics. The Denver-based strategic social media and production services sports tech company aims to generate brand awareness and exposure through celebrity athletes in a true win-win for easy, direct match NIL deals.
Icon Access Membership
As a member of Icon Access, NCAA student athletes receive exclusive perks regardless of school, sport, or grade level while increasing their exposure to participating brands for sponsorships and paid partnerships. The inaugural program features the steepest discounts offered anywhere from top brands including YouTube, Spartan Races, Freshly, Mossy Oak, Wild Mike’s Ultimate Pizza, and OtterBox.
“Icon Source’s mission is to add value to every collegiate athlete in every sport,” said Drew Butler, Executive Vice President of Collegiate at Icon Source. “For emerging collegiate athletes, a program of this kind directly connects them to premiere products so they can be rewarded for their time in the gym, on the court, field, or track and provides opportunities for expanded sponsorships with premium brands.”

Sports Techie, I have seen NIL deals signed today, last month and earlier this year across major collegiate sports programs with iconic brands running 6 and even 7 figures or more. But that is just the tip of the iceberg because most brands don’t have that kind of budget nor do they have the ability to make these deals in-house. While most college athletes are not playing football in the Power 5 Conferences.
So in steps Icon Source, the web site where a women’s volleyball and men’s baseball player, or coed eSports players, can all sign up for free to start the contract process rolling with like-minded brands. Using college influencers and their social followings to market is a real sign of the times. This type of business relationship was not a reality just one-year ago but now and into the future, it is. The new program benefits NCAA athletes that do not have time to committee to a job for income, as well as companies with time constraints, vetting priorities and contractual requirements, all needed to execute a potentially complicated partnership, in a fast and direct manner.
Each athlete’s NIL has monetary value to brands seeking to spread awareness about their company, products and culture.
Icon Access is your one-stop NIL source.
See you later sportstechie in Seattle, Atlanta and around the world!
