Seattle Seahawks, Call of Duty “Battle of the Bosses” Pits Players Vs Fans

Stage Set For Call Of Duty Tournament Featuring NFL Players vs. Fans

The Seattle Seahawks sent me a DM yesterday on Twitter discussing their “Battle of the Bosses” Call of Duty eSports Tournament pitting 6 players against 366 fans. Today, at 6 pm PST, the Hawks are hosting Tuesday’s winners of the first round involving 122 fan teams, in CoD matches played against professional football players, making this a real honor for 12s and gamers alike. The Sports Techie community blog loves gaming and the chance to digitally compete. The Seahawks hosted their first non-sports gaming tournament with the Battle of the Bosses while working together with social media influencers, and promise more events in the near future.

CoD Format

This COD first person shooter video game tourney had both the Xbox and PlayStation consoles in play.

Besides Hawks players, the NFL franchise enlisted the support of Seahawks fan and Call of Duty influencer on YouTube, HawksNest. He has more than 500K subscribers on YouTube and together with his teammates, NoahFromYouTube and Godzly, they generate 1.2 million YouTube subscribers.

Today’s live sporting event features 8 teams and the following six Hawks gamers, Ugo Amadi, Carlos Hyde, Kyle Fuller, Damontre Moore, Rasheem Green, and Geno Smith.

The makeup of each team is a fun mix of family and friends with Seahawks players acting as Captains, except for the players-only crew consisting of Green, Smith and Moore.

Eight Teams:

Ugo Amadi and friends

Carlos Hyde and friends

Kyle Fuller and friends

Damontre Moore, Rasheem Green and Geno Smith

Seattle Seahawks DM to @SportsTechieNET explaining how more than 100 teams competed on Tuesday for a chance to take on Seahawks players in a COD tournament this Thursday.

Sports Techie, this type of sport tech competition during the offseason or in-season, where fans and professional athletes compete across various video games, may one day be more popular than the real sport.

Working with influencers is another good idea catching fire across the web.

As a result, participation numbers on Tuesday blew the Seahawks away. So much so that more gaming tournaments across other popular titles are to be planned pitting players against fans.

This kind of unique fan experience was unheard of just a generation ago. Now with 5G internet speed, this type of activation is doable.

Gamers seem to have gaming running through their blood just like the Hawks players do when it comes to competing in football.

That’s why Battle of the Bosses is a real winner because it truly is a win for all parties involved, including presenting sponsor, Safeway, COD Publisher, Activision Publishing, and game developers, Infinity Ward, in addition to the NFL, Seahawks and NFLPA, as well as fans of the team, gamers and fan streamers.

Enjoy the live CoD action.

See you later sportstechie in Seattle, Atlanta and around the world!
