International Netball Federation (INF) entered the direct to consumer OTT technology service thanks to an agreement with StreamAMG to provide the official World Netball live streaming and event app beginning in June. The Vitality Netball World Cup 2019 (VNWC2019) played in Liverpool during July is a showcase for this sports tech deal featuring iOS and Android apps. The Sports Techie community blog has not blogged about Netball before this first one. By providing fans all over the globe with a live stream and dedicated app, users can instantly access live play, match highlights and on-demand content, in addition to news about the sport and real-time scores. If you want to watch outside of the broadcast parameters, all it takes is free registration for permission to stream live matches in your territory using the cutting edge platform. This marks the first time this competition is available worldwide capturing the growing momentum surrounding women’s sport.

Hugo Sharman, StreamAMG’s Chief Strategy Officer, said: “Netball and women’s sport are seeing unprecedented growth, and we’re delighted to help accelerate this further by streaming content directly to fans around the world.”

INF Specs

StreamAMG will provide the INF with OTT-driven video services to livestream simultaneous matches, and the delivery on a comprehensive online library of on demand video content. The proprietary OTT solution consists of seamless integration of two of StreamAMG digital products creating a robust system made for international video distribution:

· MediaPlatform is StreamAMG’s core online video platform, optimized for flexible management and global delivery of live and on demand video at scale.

· CloudMatrix enables content owners to create custom fan experiences, playlists and box-sets according to geographic, timezone, and a variety of user preferences.

Clare Briegal, Chief Executive Officer at the INF, said,“StreamAMG’s reputation in sport and OTT made them the stand-out candidate. We are looking forward to working with them to deliver the thrills of the World Cup to audiences worldwide, increase the global reach and promote the visibility of the fantastic role models in our great sport.”

Netball Numbers and NGBs

Did you know around 20 million plus athletes play netball in all reaches of the world because I did not! In excess of 80 countries participate in this fast paced sport that like cricket, rugby and handball, most Americans are not aware of nor its growing popularity. Netball is undergoing unprecedented growth coinciding with increased awareness of women’s sport by participants, fans and sponsors alike.

The INF is the single, governing body for netball on a global scale. They are affiliated with the Global Association of Sports Federations (GAISF), the International World Games Association (IWGA) and the Association of (IOC) Recognized International Sports Federations (ARISF).

Presently, 72 National Netball Associations are officially joined up with the INF, spilt into groups. The five Regions include Africa, Asia, Americas, Europe and Oceania – each with an associated Regional Federation. Those are some big territories, eh.

Vitality Netball World Cup 2019

The Netball World Cup is the world’s most respected netball competition. This year the event takes place July 12-21 at the ACC Liverpool campus, the home of M&S Bank Arena, Convention Centre and Exhibition Centre Liverpool. The exciting tournament features the top 16 ranked teams in the world.

This event is organized and promoted by Netball World Cup 2019 Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of England Netball, together with INF event partners UK Sport, Liverpool City Council and ACC Liverpool.

Sports Techie, ironically enough today while driving for Lyft, I gave a rideshare to to the Atlanta airport to a former sports agent for William Morris and his female partner from New Zealand who is a Netball player and quite passionate about the sport. I told them about this story, services and app to her Kiwi delight. She told me Netball is big in New Zealand.

Briegal added,“The new app is an exciting development for the World Netball Events and the INF to bring something new and unique to netball fans across the globe. The app will support the aim of the VNWC2019 and INF to inspire girls and women of all ages to be bold, supportive and passionate both about the sport and themselves.”

My Mom played international basketball for Team Ecuador so as a result, for more than 5 decades I have loved women sports without technology to boost it out there for the masses. Watch the NCAA Women’s Softball World Series ongoing right now and you will see in many ways, it is better than the men’s version. You don’t see guys cheering their heads off on every pitch for example much like a football match. Most females don’t play sports with the dream of a windfall professional career like men and boys, rather young girls and ladies play for the love of the sport and perhaps a free education, and it’s easy to behold. That status quo is changing fast however with the establishment of pro hoops, soccer and MMA careers leading the way.

I am educated guessing that Netball and the INF are much the same in terms of opportunity, enthusiasm, dedication, and athletic performance.

Get ready for Vitality Netball World Cup 2019 streaming to your digital devices from the UK thanks to StreamAMG and the INF.

Netball is what it is, now go find out for yourself and stream it as you wish.
