Emory University Child Study Center Engaging and Active Research Studies on Child Development

Emory Child Study Center Numbers, Math And Space Research

My son was invited to the Emory Child Study Center today. Kellan is on the autism spectrum and was diagnosed nearby at Marcus Autism Center. Emory wants to know how children’s minds develop as they learn and grow. His Mom and I responded with a resounding, yes. Introducing our child to the fascinating world of research felt like the right thing to do now that he is 6-years old and about to enter first grade here in Atlanta. Kellan was fortunate enough to have attended Coralwood Center School from K-3 through Kindergarten, it’s an inclusive, public school...

Sport Psychology Tech: Effectively Tapping Into the Psyche of an Athlete

Sports, whether eSports or the traditional real-world, is physically and mentally taxing. This is why proper rest and recovery is highly recommended. It also leads to a high demand in sports psychologists that even doctors and military personnel are tapping into them, according to the findings of the American Psychological Association. The Sports Techie community blog relates to the likes of Serena Williams who wrote a first person essay for Harpar’s Bazaar magazine published today. It covered her mental state of mind after before, during and after her melt down at the 2018 US Open women’s final over a chair umpire call that came at the expense of eventual champion Naomi Osaka, resulting in troubling feelings she needed professional help with overcoming...

Barebones 2019 DCSD Special Olympics Track and Field Has No Room For Budget Cut

I attended 2019 DeKalb County School District Special Olympics, Track and Field event at Hallford Stadium today because my 5-year son was a willing and happy participant along with his mates at Coralwood School, a real God-send of an inclusive, K-3 through kindergarten, public elementary school.  Kellan is on the autism spectrum therefore he and I ran in the assisted 50-yard dash together taking second place in our closely contested heat and fourth place in the baseball/softball throw! Three virtual cheers for Special Olympics.

To be honest, the event today was not one where you would say tons of money was being spent to operate it...

BodyBio Makes PC Brain Supplement

BodyBio PC

CTE Awareness Day (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) happened on January 30 before Super Bowl LIII. Most of the Sports Techie community blog followers and readers had no idea this was so because neither did I. The recent Bob Costas interview on ESPN’s Outside The Lines show about NBC Sports pulling him as host of SB53 because of his public statements regarding the sport of football and violence which in many cases manifests as brain related just heated up this real-life and sometimes terrible death topic.  It is exciting to know CTE prevention is being done with equipment and game rules. The fact is, medical professionals are also transforming lifestyles, performances and longevity using diet and supplementation. In this case, over the last four decades, BodyBio has be...

TeamSnap and Washington Youth Soccer Sports Tech Partnership Official

TeamSnap, the official team and sports organization management platform of WYS

TeamSnap sports management technology headquartered in Boulder. Colorado since 2009 is now the official team and sports organization management platform for all Washington State Youth Soccer clubs. THE Sports Techie community blog followers and readers should know I played in WSY from 2nd to 12th grade during the early 70’s through the early 80’s when families mainly used a printed schedule often placed on the refrigerator for most organizational and coordination needs for those that can relate before the digital era was all the way here with connected smartphones, tablets and PCs. I have also blogged about TeamSnap digital business and been a user as a high school lacrosse coach here in Atlanta making ...

State Farm Arena Ready For Atlanta Hawks Opening Night

State Farm Arena Transformation With Sports Tech Enhanced Features

State Farm Arena Transform With Sports Tech Enhanced Features

State Farm Arena opens tonight when the Atlanta Hawks play the Dallas Mavericks after a $200 million arena refurbish of which $142.5 million came from Georgia public funding, something I am fully against because billionaire owners don’t need the money, right. This is touted as the second-biggest facility redesign in NBA history after MGS in New York. My son and I went to the “Welcome to the Neighborhood” Open House Party which was free to the public last weekend and had a good time indeed which bodes well for fans this evening and throughout the 2018/19 season. Unfortunately, with the new sponsor and all the technology-driven bells and whistles like the fan...

After the Hoverboard Scandal – Which Brands Can You Trust?

After the Hoverboard Scandal – Which Brands Can You Trust?

Remember just a couple Christmases ago when hoverboards were the gift to give? You may also recall the great debacle surrounding the products shortly after – a few of these self-balancing scooters had electrical shortages and caught fire, making national headlines and worrying parents who had bought them for their kids. The Sports Techie community blog believes in safety first when it comes to sports tech.

Just as quickly as they gained popularity, they were labeled hazardous. These dangerous early hoverboards all had one thing in common though – the batteries were all traced back to a single factory in China and sold for cheap...

Lyft Atlanta Ride Share Driver

Ride Share Driving For Lyft Atlanta

Lyft Atlanta Ride Share Driving – Sports Techie blog

Lyft is my preferred ride sharing company even before Uber started started taking negative PR hits because of their corporate culture towards women employees primarily forcing their founder to step down. When I did not own a car, I relied on mostly public transportation and that means Marta buses and trains in Atlanta as well as relying on ride share. I bought a Chevy Cruze last year and now drive exclusively for Lyft although I am cleared for Uber too. Now 1,500 rides later, it has truly been an amazing opportunity to both meet people, see the Atlanta area and places I would probably never have visited otherwise, and to understand this new age, tech-driven business model...
