ELEAGUE To Live Stream CES 2016 “Road To Vegas” eSports Championship

The ELEAGUE “Road to Vegas” debut at CES 2016 produced by Turner Sports and WME / IMG is live streaming the top two teams in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive by Valve championship eSports league competition to fans around the world this Thursday, January 7 at 12:30 p.m. PST. The CS:GO stream features Lounge Gaming and OpTic Gaming (team members formerly part of Team Conquest) facing off in the best-of-three championship round streamed live over the FaceIT Twitch Channel. The Sports Techie community blog is excited to share this Turner Sports news about a new sports technology driven sport that had more than 1,100 teams compete in the qualifying round for the opportunity to earn the right to play in the “Road to Vegas” championship. The winning eLeague squad gets a prize pool and a highly sought after invitation to participate in the first ELEAGUE season. Turner Sports intents to deliver ELEAGUE via a free and live online stream to fans and to up and coming players via CES 2016 as an industry first.

ELEAGUE
ELEAGUE is a professional eSports league developed by Turner and WME | IMG.  The inaugural season launches this summer with extensive, high-quality digital content – more than 30 hours per week of live competitive gaming; Tuesday through Friday of each tournament week – and 10 consecutive week of programing twice per year, the most extensive commitment to televised eSports programming to date, airing Friday nights on TBS.  Turner Studios here in Atlanta will serve as the primary operations facility for the live events.

Turner Sports will have its largest footprint ever during CES 2016 in Las Vegas – part of an overall Turner presence throughout the week – including a daylong showcase at the Venetian, Levell 2, Hall D on Thursday, January 7. In addition to Turner Sports’ live on-site event coverage of its first-ever Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Championship, in partnership with WME | IMG, events will also include: the inaugural Sports Business Forum, presented by Turner Sports in partnership with NextVR, including a panel with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Baseball Commissioner Robert D. OpTic Gaming (team members formerly part of Team Conquest, then the No. 18 world ranked CS:GO team) is a North American based team including Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan, Damian “daps” Steele, Will “RUSH” Wierzba, Keith “NAF-FLY” Markovic and Peter “stanislaw” Stanislaw.  The team earned a third place finish in the iBuyPower 2015 Fall Invitational and went on to also place third in both the CEVO-Professional S8 online season and the ESL ESEA Pro League season, earning a playoff spot in each.  Most recently, they won the goRGN Freedom Cup.

Lounge Gaming, currently ranked No. 49 in the world, is comprised of Pawel “innocent” Mocek, Michał “MICHU” Muller, Grzegorz “SZPERO” Dziamałek, Mikołaj “mouz” Karolewski, Oskar “oskarish” Stenborowski, all from Poland, and coached by Mariusz “Loord” Cybulski.  “innocent” has played Counter Strike (CS) for nearly 10 years and has competed in over 40 offline tournaments in the last four years.  He is currently IGL of the CSGL Team. “MICHU” has been playing CS since 2011 and is the lurker of the team. “SZPERO” has been a top-level CS player for eight years and is the team’s main AWPer.  “mouz” partners with “oskarish,” the rising star on the group, as entry fragger.  Coach “Loord” is one of the most successful CS players of all-time – as the winner of WCG 2006, 2009 and 2011 – and as a member of legendary Golden Five team, considered the best CS 1.6 lineup ever.

Shoutcasters
The ELEAGUE championship event features Shoutcasters by the knicknames of “Anders” Blume, Auguste “Semmler” Massonnat and Daniel “DDK” Kapadia.  “Anders” calls Denmark his home and is the prestigious Golden Joysticks eSports Icon of the Year for his vison with casting CS:GO. The visionary is known as the voice of CS:GO because his memorable casting described several of CS:GO’s most iconic moments since the league’s inception. “Semmler” was born in the United Stated and currently lives in Europe in the country of Sweden.  He and Anders have earned the title “premiere CS:GO casting duo” since they are responsible for calling the most high profile events in the brief but impactful history of CS:GO.  Caster “DDK” and esports analyst James Bardolph team up to present both a relaxed and funny style that hardcore and casual fans alike enjoy as much as the live action itself.

Previously a Quake commentator, “DDK” turned his focus to CS:GO after joining FaceIT.  He is an ex-professional FPS player turned YouTube content producer and currently provides commentary, hosting and original content for FaceIT.

Analysts
The Analysts for the CS:GO “Road to Vegas” Championship consist of Richard Lewis, Duncan “Thorin” Shields and James Bardolph. Lewis is a veteran eSports journalist covering the business for 12 years, breaking many of the biggest stories in the industry. “Thorin” is known as the infamous eSports historian, with coverage experience and feature writing skills since 2001.
